Project and Community Engagement Officer – Liss Parish Council

Part-time (20 hrs pw) 2 year+ Fixed Term Contract

Liss Parish Council is seeking to appoint a Project and Community Engagement Officer for a period of at least 2 years, 20 hours per week on a Fixed Term Contract.

We are looking for somebody to join our small, friendly team who has the drive, determination and organisational skills to manage some exciting projects that will vary in size and stature. Flexible working arrangements in terms of hours and office/home working will be considered for the right candidate, but occasional evening and weekend working may be required.

It is envisaged that the post will run from March 2022 to March 2024 in the first instance, although this may be extended dependent on funding and ongoing and anticipated projects at the anniversary of appointment and is subject to the satisfactory completion of a 3-month probationary period.

The postholder will primarily be responsible for delivering projects, both established and arising from a consultation exercise for which the postholder will be responsible for developing and managing.

The ideal applicant will have experience as a Project Officer or similar role, from conception to delivery and be able to demonstrate excellent time management and administration skills, an ability to work on their own initiative and to have experience of balancing priorities. They will also have an enthusiasm for working with the local community and organisations. Communication skills are vital in the role as the postholder will also play a key role in enhancing communication between the Council and parishioners and in promoting Council activities and facilities.

Parish Council projects are generally funded from external sources and so experience in funding applications would be preferable. However significant funding has been received from recent local development and so this is an exciting time to become involved in helping to deliver key improvements to the village over the coming years.
