STATEMENT FROM THE CHAIR OF LISS PARISH COUNCIL ON CORONAVIRUS

Following the Government’s guidelines on preventing the spread of Coronavirus, Liss Parish Council staff have been asked to work from home where possible. Although the office is not open to the public at this time, officers and councillors can still be contacted by phone (01730 892823), e-mail or via the website. The council will do what it can to continue its work but in this unprecedented situation there may be some delays, whether in responding to queries or advancing project work outlined in the annual Action Plan. In line with Government guidance, there will be no meetings until further notice. All group activities in the Village Hall and Liss Pavilion have also been suspended. This will be kept under constant review.

East Hampshire District Council (EHDC) is working alongside voluntary organisations to lead the response and make sure that support, services and supplies reach everyone that needs them. Liss Parish Council will work with EHDC to support the community co-ordination where it can.

Liss Parish Council welcomes that villagers are coming together and working to support each other. We all need to look after our neighbours at this time. Liss Parish Council will continue to provide links to key information and services which might assist during this challenging time.

On a final note, Liss Parish Council would request that parishioners use play areas and grounds in strict observance of the social distancing guidelines. There is a real risk that play areas will be forced to close if people do not follow the guidelines. To assist we would request that numbers using the play areas are limited by families making a choice to enjoy their own open space in gardens, to allow those families with no outside space to continue to enjoy access to these areas which will be so crucial to them.

Please continue to follow the guidance from the Government so that we can all stay safe.
